Using Book Study to Promote Reading

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Reading is a fundamental and vital skill for success in school and life. Children of poverty sometimes struggle to achieve success in reading or see the value in reading. Using a book student can help encourage students to read, be successful in reading, and appreciate the value in reading.

Doris Hawkins

Teacher, Lexington School District I
As an educator, I am passionate about student learning and establishing guidelines for teaching that are appropriate for today's students and teachers. Thirty-four years of teaching has helped me to see transitions in education that are powerful and those that just are not in the best interest of students or teachers. My goal is help in any way that I can. My focus is on children of poverty.
